In December 2006, a dedicated group of people got together and were able to buy a house on King Street that sat vacant for a very long time.
The Stone Soup house quickly became a place for organizations to meet, and work on initiatives to better the Main South area, and Worcester as a whole.
With over 8 organizations and cooperatives calling Stone Soup their home, the place was a bustling place filled with energy and love.
Then, on March 26, 2009, there was a fire at Stone Soup. Luckily, no one was in the house at the time.
The 3-alarm fire caused heavy fire, water and smoke damage, and quickly displaced the groups, but everyone quickly said that Stone Soup would be rebuilt and it has been.
On Wednesday, July 25th, beginning at 1 p.m., Stone Soup will host their “Groundbreaking Ceremony” for the newly rebuilt Stone Soup House!
Check out the flyer details or email stonesoupworcester(at)gmail.com or call (508)443-4974.
And, here’s a great video about Stone Soup, and what it means to many of the people in the community and the rebuilding of the house!
